Olive Oil - 1L – AlArd - Made in Palestine

The Palestinian mountains are adorned with olive trees, herbs, and beautiful wildflowers that cover the hills and valleys, especially in spring. Palestinian farmers at this time of year prune olive trees, till the soil, and care for the olive trees to prevent diseases and problems. Olive harvesting is the main crop in Palestine, and Palestinian farmers still use traditional techniques to manually remove weeds and trim olive branches to help them be more productive. Palestinian hills and groves, covered with olive trees, turn into a national festival in October when the harvest begins. Farmers and their families gather to harvest olives from dawn till dusk, enjoying meals prepared by campfire under the trees, preserving the inherited customs of Palestinian generations. Considering the difficult conditions Palestinian farmers face today, many international volunteers assist in bringing in the olives and providing protection for farmers facing violence and harassment from the occupation and settler groups. Once the olives are collected, they are transported to a community press, where the oil is extracted and its quality tested. Olive oil factories then bottle and package the oil for export.
